Monastiria beach
Monastiria beach is located on the northeastern coast of Kimolos and quite far away from any major village. It is secluded with difficult access through a long dirt road that requires a 4 x 4 vehicle in order to avoid inconvenience. If you don’t have a 4 x 4 vehicle, you can take a water taxi or join a round-the-island boat cruise that stops here for a swim. Of course, if you are hiking enthusiasts, put your hiking shoes on and start walking. It will take approximately an hour and a half to reach the beach on foot, starting from Chorio.
Monastiria beach is a stunning cove, covered with coarse sand and pebbles. It has crystal clear blue waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. There aren’t any kind of facilities, neither any trees for shade, so you should bring essentials with you, including an umbrella for the hot sun. The beach is unprotected from northern winds and often the sea is rough. But don't worry, walk further to get to the neighboring Soufi beach which is equally beautiful and well protected from most winds. Monastiria is a very scenic and quiet beach, ideal for relaxation, away from crowds and noises.
