Camel beach
Kamila is a nice, quiet beach, located in the southwestern part of Kos, between the beaches of Paradise and the famous beach of Agios Stefanos. The small bay is a wonderful place for swimming and a great spot for snorkeling due to its rocky morphology. Unlike most other beaches on the island, this beach is surrounded by small rock ledges. When entering the sea, the ground is slippery and reefy, but if you walk further out in the water, the ground is soft and sandy. The waters there are usually calm and inviting although a little cold. If someone looks at it from afar, it resembles to a camel, hence the name that was ascribed to it.
The road down to the beach is steep, but you won’t be disappointed. However, your vehicle may struggle to get back up. The beach in front of the parking lot is organized with umbrellas, sunbeds and showers. A little further to the right there is a smaller bay, just as beautiful without any facilities for those who prefer more isolated beaches. There is a restaurant at the top overlooking the beach and if you want anything from it the person at the bottom who collects the money for the sunbeds will fetch it for you.
