Ialysos beach
This is a lovely long beach with a gorgeous range of shades of blue and beautiful views across to Turkey. The beach is shingle, and it is not easy to get into the sea, but it is so relaxing just to lie back and enjoy the view. Windy at times which can cause the sea to be a bit choppy but it is fun to bob with the waves and fun to watch the windsurfers too, however not family friendly. If you prefer calm seas and sandy beaches you would better go om the south west coast of the island. Water is nice and clean and the beach itself very clean.
There is a good collection of places to get a drink and snacks and lots of available beach chairs to sit and view the ocean from. There are also watersports available if you decide to venture on these. The worst thing about this beach is that it is in the flight path and planes fly low, coming on to land at the nearby airport every few minutes. The beach is perfect for kite boarders and windsurfers but not for non-swimmers and people with mobility issues. Overall, a nice beach to spend the day, relax and take some sunset pictures but do not forget to use swim shoes to make it easier on the feet.
