Ambelos beach

Located on the northwestern coast of Chios, Ampelos Beach offers stunning views of the Asia Minor coastline. This secluded pebble beach features emerald waters that remain refreshingly cool, making it a perfect retreat for nature lovers and adventure seekers. With pristine waters and a rocky seabed, it’s an excellent spot for snorkeling and spearfishing, providing a fascinating underwater landscape for exploration.

Surrounded by lush vegetation, thanks to the region’s freshwater springs, Ampelos Beach is an unspoiled haven for those looking to unwind in peace. As an unorganized beach, it remains quiet and untouched, ideal for a truly relaxing escape.

Named after the vineyards (ampelia in Greek) once cultivated by locals from Kardamyla, Ampelos Beach has historical significance. Many years ago, residents of Kardamyla built a small seaside settlement here to minimize travel between their village and the coast, which later evolved into a charming coastal retreat.

Easily accessible via Chios’ Road network, Ampelos Beach is 33.1 km (47 minutes) from Chios Town and 8.9 km (17 minutes) from Kardamyla. Nearby, visitors can also explore Kavos tis Oras, home to traces of an ancient Greek shipwreck.

Plan your visit to Ampelos Beach and experience one of Chios’ most tranquil coastal treasures!
