Gorge of the Mills (Kardaris)

The Gorge of Mili (Mills) is also known as Kardaris Gorge or Vrisiotikou Gorge. It starts from Georgitsi, crosses beautiful landscapes filled with plane, fir and chest nut trees, ruins of old watermills, narrow passages and ends up in Kastori. If you love the uphill, you can cross it, vice versa, starting from Kastori. The path is clean and well-signed. Caution needed only when crossing the narrow passage of the gorge, especially if it has recently rained because of the rushing waters. The hike after the narrow passage is easy but be careful the wooden steps and the improvised bridges because they may not be well maintained.

The best time to cross the gorge is from the end of spring till the beginning of autumn. Have in mind to wear waterproof shoes as you will need to cross the river several times and to have a walking stick with you for extra stability. Some extra clothes, water and snacks are a must. The gorge of the Mills has a low level of difficulty and is ideal for all ages. Crossing it, is a unique experience and definitely worthwhile if you are in the area.
