Florina has its own soul that you have to walk around the city to discover. The river area is a short distance from the town’s main street and is very charming with lots of neoclassical houses at the shoreline of the Sakoulevas river. Sakoulevas River has its springs on Mount Varnoudas and flows through the city of Florina. Water level is much higher during winter and drops considerably during summer. The river is a meeting point for the residents of the city and the place where many painters have their studios. The city's Museum of Contemporary Art is also situated by the river and is worth a visit. Walking along the river is very romantic and the scenery becomes even more beautiful in winter when the water freezes. Sakoulevas river is the landmark of the city and a pole of attraction for both locals and tourists. The beautiful mansions on both of its sides, add to this magnificent landscape and offer great photo opportunities.
