Arkos

Arkos

Arkos is a little uninhabited island right across Skiathos island. It has a few lovely beaches with sand and turquoise water and a gorgeous beach with a small tavern on the northwest coast. From the beach you can hike up the island’s rocky ridge for panoramic views of Skiathos, Skopelos and the Aegean Sea. The tavern offers umbrellas and beds and is a quiet place to relax. What fascinates most visitors are the sand dunes that start from the top of the island and go all the way to the coast. Climbing up the dunes is great fun, especially for kids. The east side of the island is rocky with no beaches but with a very interesting seabed with lots of sea life to see, perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Reaching Arkos Island is a 15-mitutes boat ride away from Skiathos harbor. There are no scheduled trips to Arkos and the only way to get there is by water taxi from the port of Skiathos or by renting a license free boat. Arkos Island is a perfect place to spend the day and we definitely recommend you to hire a boat and visit this little heaven. It will be a truly memorable experience.
