Cheese of Tinos

The local cheese are well known for the delicious taste, purity of the ingredients and high quality standards. Graviera, myzithra, petroma (unsalted cheese used mainly in Easter cheese pies) and kopanisti (soft cheese with a peppery flavor) are the most notable ones.The most typical among local cheeses, is the Tinian Tyraki (Volaki or Sklavotyri) which has a spherical shape and can be found either dry or fresh.
