Milos Maritime Museum
The Milos Maritime Museum opened in September, 2008 and is housed in the old community building above the port of Adamantas. Its aim is visitors to learn the naval history of the island through exhibits from the prehistoric era such as obsidian tools, finds that date from the 480BC naval battle of Salamina and other more recent objects. Among them, there are rare nautical maps made by expert hand cartographers and a wooden boat named Eirini, built in the traditional Cycladic boat building style. The museum was founded by Dr. Petros Armenis, who managed to collect a significant number of exhibits with the help of old sailors and fishermen.
