Psara

Psara (Greek: Ψαρά) is an island of the North East Aegean, northwest of Chios. It is a dry and barren island with wild landscapes, especially on its eastern side. Psara is a historic island after being completely destroyed by the Turks during the Greek Revolution. Mavri Rachi, well-known thanks to Dionysios Solomos, is the small peninsula southwest that connects the settlement with the old castle. The island has a single settlement that is amphitheatrically built around the harbor. The houses of the settlement are white and two-storeyed with tile, and among them is the house of Konstantinos Kanaris. On the central square there is the so-called Heron, a monument where the names of all the victims of the Holocaust are engraved. Psara is an ideal choice for a quiet and relaxing holiday and is famous for its excellent thyme honey.
