Potamos beach
Potamos beach is located at the exit of a gorge, on the west coast of Gavdos, 7 km from the port of Karave. Surrounded by high cliffs, the beautiful beach with the clear blue waters, the geological clay formations and the cedars that almost reach the sea, is a popular spot for naturists and campers. It is a long beach with reddish sand and shallow water, which doesn't get busy due to the difficult access.
There are two ways to reach the beach: either by boat or on foot via a trail that starts from the village of Ampelos. The route is relatively easy. The trail crosses a pine forest, overlooking the islet of Gavdopoula. The most beautiful part of the hike is towards the end of the route, where the view of the beautiful beach from above is amazing. Along the way, you will pass from the abandoned settlement of Neveli. The hike is about '50 minutes and is a very good choice for a walk-in nature.
