
Church of Agia Kyriaki of Kalloni
Agia Kyriaki church is located roughly 3km from Apiranthos on Naxos. It dates back to the Iconoclastic period of the 9th century, approximately, and constitutes one of the most significant Byzantine monuments in the entire Balkan region. The church features a spate of frescoes, including a stand-out work depicting birds with ribbons on their necks, on the altar’s arch.
