Bridge of Agista
The old stone bridge of Agista is located close to the Agistas train station. It bridges the Agitis river and it consists of five pointed arches, four of which are visible today. It is the only arched bridge in Eastern Macedonia. The stone bridge is oriented from north to south and is built of carved poros stones connected with strong plaster.
It dates from antiquity while the last phase of the project dates back to the early Ottoman period. Its continuous use since antiquity proves its importance as it connects the southern fertile plain and the northern and western foothills of Mt. Paggaio.
