Bridge of Koukoumitsa
The town of Vonitsa, built in the shadow of the emblematic Venetian castle, is known for the lovely sandy beaches with the clear waters and the picturesque, lushly green islet of Koukoumitsa. A modern wavy bridge offers access to the islet from the beach of Saltini, right across from Koukoumitsa. The pedestrian bridge is an ideal choice for a refreshing evening walk to the little chapel of Agios Nektarios on the tiny island. The bridge was built in 1992. Till then, there was no bridge and the faithful who wished to visit the little chapel had to cross the sea on foot.
