Greek Mythology Thematic Park
A unique theme park that will walk you through the Greek myths. The park is located at the village of Psychro, in the Municipality of Lasithi Plateau, Crete. This privately and family-owned park is home to a wonderful exhibition that puts you on a true Greek myth adventure. Greek mythology is presented in a fun and interactive way. The figurines and surroundings are very carefully made and there are sound effects. There is a wide mix of sculptures too, from the more famous Trojan war to lesser-known philosophers, like Diogenes in his barrel. You can find a lot of different information about Greek gods and their history. An audio tour is available in English, German, French and Greek and is very informative. The audio guide explains Greek mythology really well.
You will be impressed with the inside part, which is dark and mysterious but the outside part is amazing too. You come out into a bright courtyard with the feeling of going back in time to ancient Greece and just as you think you have reached the end you enter an old traditional farming 'village'. This section gives you a detailed history of the beautiful plateau you traverse to reach the cave.
We would highly recommend to anyone heading up to see the Dikteo Antro Cave (Cave of Zeus), to visit this park. The visit is suitable for all ages and sure kids will love it. There is also a shop at the very end where you can taste many local products, produced by the owners of the park. You can park right in front of the park and also visit the Zeus' cave from there. The park covers an area of 3,000 square meters and is open daily. Entrance is free for disabled and children under 4 years.
