The Mill of Elves
The Mill of Elves is the biggest Christmas theme park in Greece. The park is housed in an important industrial monument in the city of Trikala and opens every year for almost 40 days to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors from each corner of Greece and the Balkans who want to feel the magic of Christmas.
The place used to be a water mill entirely built by stone and named Mitsopoulos Mill. It was back in December 2011, when Santa Claus first transformed the old Mill into a Christmas Park. Ever since the old mill is transformed into a festive toy and confectionary factory every Christmas and offers joy to both young and old. Several performances, festivals and other cultural events take place in its premises. It also features an ice rink, fun park, cinema, theater, food stands, coffee shops and several workshops. Kids can paint, bake, taste sweets, see how chocolate is made and take several photos with Santa Claus and his elves.
The park is located in the west end of the city, very close to the railway station. The park this year will be open daily from the 25th of November to the 8th of January from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Entrance is free and there is parking space free of charge on the street opposite. Trikala is situated in Thessaly, 325km from Athens and 220km from Thessaloniki and is one of the best winter destinations in Greece.
