Hot Springs of Thermes
The Thermal Springs are located in the mountainous region of Xanthi prefecture, just 42 km from the city of Xanthi. The geothermal field that exists in the region creates hot springs with beneficial properties.
In the valley of Kato Thermes and Loutra Thermes, the water temperature ranges from 18° C and 53° C, while only in the baths the temperature is between 38° C and 53° C.
The area of the hot springs is not particularly developed for touristic activities, however, in recent years, efforts have been made to create adequate infrastructures. As part of these efforts, the local government, proceeded to construct hostel of 25 rooms, with a capacity of 50 people.
At the central square, where the seat of the municipality of Thermes is located, we meet the community hydrotherapy center. These springs are classified in the spa category of the water- scattered.
Bath therapy is indicated for the following diseases:
- musculoskeletal system
- nervous system
- peripheral vascular system
- skin diseases
While drinking therapy is indicated for diseases of the gastrointestinal and urinary tract.
