Farma of Rhodes Petting Zoo
The Farm and Zoo Park in Rhodes is a fun place for both adults and children. The farm lies within close distance from the Valley of Butterflies and has all sorts of animals such as ostriches, llamas, deer, horses, goats, donkeys, lemurs, camels, boars, porcupines etc. It is great fun interacting with the animals and feeding them is an experience in itself that you cannot do every day. The place is well organized and the staff are all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the animals they look after. They will tell you interesting facts about the animals as you interact with them such as the fact that one ostrich egg can handle 150kgs of weight on top of it.
There is also a nice little gift shop where you can buy special gifts for you or your loved ones such as ostrich grooming natural products, carved and dyed ostrich eggs or dusters made from feathers that have fallen from the birds, organic and in a limited amount olive oil and honey. The little restaurant at the end of the walk is great to sit down and cool off in with a drink and they have a nice selection of food. To be able to get in the enclosures with beautiful creatures is a must do experience and so unique. Any animal lover would enjoy this day out. The farm is open from 9am until 7pm. In order to visit the farm, you can take a taxi, travel by car or choose one of the daily trips organized by tourist offices. You can buy a ticket at the farm or you can book your tickets online and get a discount. The farm is 24 km from Rhodes Town and 60 km from Lindos.
