Samos Airport "Aristarchos of Samos" (SMI) is located just 15.7 kilometers (approximately 24 minutes) from Vathy, the capital of Samos, and only 3.1 kilometers (around 6 minutes) from the charming village of Pythagoreio. Operating since 1963, the airport serves not only Samos but also nearby islands in the North Aegean.

This small, regional airport offers essential amenities for travelers, including a terminal with five boarding gates, a duty-free shop, and a café. Samos Airport is capable of handling international flights, and during the summer months, passenger traffic increases significantly with charter flights from numerous European cities.

The airport is named after the ancient Greek astronomer and mathematician Aristarchus of Samos, who was born on the island and made groundbreaking contributions to astronomy.

A Modernized Airport for a Better Travel Experience

Since December 2015, Samos Airport has been operated by the Fraport AG / Copelouzos Group consortium, along with 13 other airports across Greece. As part of Fraport Greece's investment program, the airport has undergone extensive renovation and modernization to enhance passenger comfort and services.
