Sifnos
Sifnos is definitely one of Greece’s prettiest islands. This little island is famous for its scenic diversity, iconic churches, ultra-picturesque villages, traditional festivals (panigiria), handmade ceramics and the excellent cuisine. It is neither too large as to feel difficult to navigate, nor so small that you’ve seen it all in a couple of days. Sifnos island is a place you can go and relax without feeling too secluded. Life here is slow, sweet and blissfully simple. Even though, it is a tiny island, it has several beautiful villages you can visit, glorious beaches, unique religious sites and some remarkable archaeological sites that reveal the island’s ancient history. There is also plenty of stuff to do, but what really makes the island more interesting than others is the extensive network of hiking trails. The views from the mountains are stunning which is also why Sifnos leads the Cyclades as one of the top hiking destinations.
The best time to visit Sifnos is in May or early September when it is not so hot and the island has the least amount of people. In high season, prices tend to go up and beaches get sometimes overcrowded. Sifnos not only is small and friendly, but it is also ideally located in the Cyclades and easy to get to from the mainland. Though the island can no longer be considered ‘undiscovered’, it is still unspoiled with an authentic Greek charm. If you are looking for an island with a balance of beautiful beaches, low-key vibe, whitewashed houses with the backdrop of the Aegean Sea, sheer natural beauty and maybe the best food in the Cyclades, then look no further than Sifnos.
Sifnos is a Greek island in the Cyclades, between Serifos and Milos and west of Delos and Paros.
Kamares is the port of Sifnos. The distance between Sifnos Island and the port of Piraeus in Athens is 80 nautical mles.
Sifnos Island has a long tradition in ceramics and cooking as is the birthplace of Nikolaos Tselementes, the leading Greek chef of the 20th century.

HOW TO GET AROUND SIFNOS | Car Rental, Bus. Taxi, Scooter / ATV
In Sifnos, perhaps the best way to get around is by scooter or ATV. Cars are also an option if you travel with family. There are many rental companies in the port town of Kamares and in Apollonia. To rent a car or ATV, you will need an EU or international driver’s license. Be aware, that the only gas stations on the island are near Apollonia. Although renting a car is ideal, you can get around on the bus. Buses will take you from village to village or to the beaches. The schedule is limited, but if you plan your day right, you won’t have any issues. If you are travelling to Sifnos during the off-season, bus schedules are bit more infrequent. There is also a fleet of a taxis stationed mainly in Apollonia but also in Kamares, but they are not cheap and not easy if you’re looking to explore multiple places.
