From Piraeus
Sifnos is situated 76 nautical miles from Piraeus and the most convenient way to reach it is by ferry. The journey normally takes anywhere between 3.5 and 5 hours depending on the type of the vessel and the stops along the way. There are daily crossings throughout the year, and even 5 daily crossings during summertime. High-speed ferries usually operate from March to October and the journey time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. Slower conventional boats will have cheaper tickets, but the journey might be 4 or 5 hours, however you can enjoy a small cruise in the Aegean on the way to Sifnos.
From Rafina
There are seasonal ferry crossings from Rafina to Sifnos. The trip takes approximately 5 hours but you are advised to check with the relevant port authorities or agencies before traveling to and from Rafina to the island.
Connection with other islands
Sifnos boasts a great position in the heart of the Cyclades, so it is a good base for island-hopping to other Cyclades islands. From the port of Sifnos, there are frequent ferry connections to many islands in the Cyclades, including Kythnos, Serifos, Milos, Kimolos, Paros, Naxos, Santorini, Mykonos, Amorgos, Koufonisia, Andros, Ios, Tinos, Sikinos, Folegandros and Ios. Sifnos has no airport, therefore if you are travelling by plane you will have to fly to Milos and then catch a ferry to the island.
