Three Bells of Fira
This is the famous church in all the touristy pictures you see of Santorini, located in Fira. It is an iconic, blue domed church with three bells and stunning sea views. The church is officially known as The Catholic Church of the Dormition. The building is located in the town of Fira, directly above the cliffs which dominate western Santorini. It was built in 1757, and then refurbished and expanded multiple times over the centuries. The current structure was restored in 1960 after the devastating 1956 Amorgos earthquake severely damaged it.
This is a favorite spot for photographers and instagrammers, as it offers one of the best vantage points of the sea, the caldera, and the soaring cliffs of the western end of the island. The Three Bells of Fira is about a 10–15-minute walk from the main part of Fira along the coast side. The steps you have to take to go up to it from the coastal path are clearly indicated on signs. As it is one of the most iconic photo spots on Santorini, so there is usually a line to take pictures, so try to go early in the morning to beat the crowds.
