Black Tower

It is located in Exambella, at a strategic point of the island and dates back to the 6th and 3rd centuries BC.
The exact date and use is not perfectly clear and the same applies to the other towers of the island. They were likely to be shelters or fortifications of the population in the troubled classical and Hellenistic times when Sifnos was the apple of contention because of its wealth.
The Black Tower is of circular cross-section, built with rectangular chisels of various sizes, in anisotomized arrangement.
