Ippokratous Square
Any visit to the Old Town is sure to pass Hippocrates or Ιppokratous Square with its pretty fountain with mosaic patterns on the centerpiece. Nice during the day but even better at night, it is an extremely popular place to grab a bite to eat or something to drink in one of the many cafes and open-air restaurants. Ιppokratous Square is atmospheric and the focal point for all tourist activity in the Old Town. It is also home to the 14th century AD Castellania (Kastellania), an historic building that believed to have served as the Knights’ Courts. Nowadays it serves as the public library and historical archive. Upon entering the Old Town through Marine Gate, you will find yourself in this popular square, which is a great place to begin exploring Rhodes Old Town. The square is also where Sokratous Street, one of the most popular commercial streets on the island, begins.
