Pirama Tower
Pirama is a small village of NW Chios island. It is 4km north of Volissos and 44km from the town of Chios.
At the center of the village there is a so called “Venetian” tower. The Venetians ruled the island for a short period between 1204 and 1235 and it is very unlikely that this was really a Venetian building. Apparently, the “Venetian” was used here as a generic term for a non-Byzantine monument.
The tower is in fact from the Genoan period of the island and was built in 1515 according to a Genoan document recorded by Philip P Argenti.
