The Castle
The Venetian castle of Skopelos, from which only the ruins of the wall are preserved, is located at the site of the oldest settlement of the island, Peparithos. It was repaired by the Venetians in the 13th century. and is an integral part of the rest of Skopelos.
The Castle is visible from every corner of the Country. There you will end up climbing the stairs from Panagitsa of Pyrgos to the edge of the port.
Today it has both archaeological and tourist interest, as at the top you will meet George Xantari, one of the last of the rembetic music.
