The tomb of Brooke of Skyros
Before the harbor in Treis Mpoukes there is the tomb of the philhellene poet Rupert Brooke, officer of the British Navy that died by an infection and was buried in Skyros in 1915 at the age of 28. However, the existent tomb is not the real one. It was built there by his mother after the World War II. If you travel south of Kalamitsa, through a relatively easy road towards Treis Mpoukes, you will find the tomb to your left in a small forest of olive trees. Rupert Brooke was especially honored by the residents of Skyros as he was a great inspiration for them.
