Church of Agios Georgios of Aegina
From the first churches of the Argosaronikos Castle in Aegina, which the visitor will encounter, it is that of Agios Georgios the Catholic. The temple also bears the name "Panagia or Foritissa" because it was located in the central square of Palaiochora (forum-market). It is a beautiful, imposing and remarkable temple. After its recent restoration by a private institution, both the building and its surviving hagiographies are in excellent condition. In this temple was kept the head of Agios Georgios the Catalan conquerors had brought from the Livadia in 1393. Unfortunately carts traveled to Venice in exchange for the construction of Palaiochora castle.
