Garoufa Tower
The ruins of a medieval tower between Gazatika and Agia Eleni in Corfu. There is no information about its origin and history.
It is certain that it was destroyed by fire in the early 20th century and has not been reused since.
The name of the tower is probably derived from the corruption of "Baruchas" which was a family name in the area.
A stone staircase leads to the unique balcony of the tower, which holds thirteen large partitions with vaulted doors and windows. However, the tower is completely neglected and access is very difficult due to the dense vegetation.
