Mavrospilia beach
Tucked away on the west of Kimolos Island, is Mavrospilia (‘black cave’), a natural sandy beach with some pretty white rocks jutting out of the sea. On a calm day, you can swim and snorkel around the rocks, moreover explore some caves nearby. It is also a favorite spot to see a sunset that easily tops Santorini. The water is clear, calm and very inviting; however, the beach is highly exposed to west wind. The Bay of Mavrospilia takes its name from the cave at its far northern end.
Mavrospilia beach has a few trees for shade and a beach bar with all the basics. This gorgeous beach offers the opportunity to explore the nearby ancient ruins of Ellinika where you can also find some stunning white rocks similar to the ones you can find at Sarakiniko on Milos. It is a perfect beach for relaxing and swimming on Kimolos and definitely the best place to enjoy postcard sunsets. The beach is located 6 km west of Chorio and is accessible only via a dirt road or on foot.
