Goupa beach
Goupa is a small coastal settlement on Kimolos, probably one of the most picturesque spots in the whole island. There is a small port, where fishing boats dock and a very small pebbled beach right next to the traditional ‘sirmata’ (caves dug into the volcanic soft rock primarily used as warehouses for fishing boats in wintertime). In additon there are many white rocks to sunbathe on and/or to dive from. The coastline around Goupa has some interesting rock formations and the water is amazing. The small beach is not the best in the Greek Archipelago but it is good enough for a cooling dip after the walk from Chora and ideal for snorkeling. In Goupa, there aren’t any tourist shops, cafes or restaurants and the only thing you can do is to swim with local kids playing in the sea. Goupa is about 10-minutes’ walk from Chora and well worth a visit.
