Glyfada beach

Glyfada beach is one of the top beaches of Naxos. It is a lovely beach with fine, almost white sand, turquoise waters, lots of parking, and almost no people. The sea is clear, with smooth water entry, and calm if there is no wind. You can rent umbrellas and chairs, or walk a few hundred meters and be completely alone. Glyfada is a very long beach and rarely gets crowded like Alyko and Agios Prokopios, which is great if you are looking for a quiet bay for sunbathing and relaxing. Surrounded by sand dunes and cedar trees, the beach location is beautiful with stunning views of the entire bay. The beach is wholly natural, with no any facilities on offer but there are some dining options and guesthouses nearby.

Glyfada beach is in the middle distance between Kastraki and Alyko and is one of the most impressive beaches in terms of its natural landscape. It is situated around 15 km south of Chora and the best way to get there is to hire a car, scooter, or ATV. There is no public bus that runs here, but you can catch the bus to Kastraki, and walk from there. Thanks to its location on the western side of the island, Glyfada is also an excellent spot to watch the sun go down. We would recommend heading there on a calm and clear day as Glyfada can get pretty windy. The nearest beaches are those of Pyrgaki, Kastraki and Alyko beach.

By car, moto or ATV:

  • Chora – Glinado – Triposes (Vivlos) – Kastraki – Glyfada (16 km)
  • Chora – Galanado – Sagkri – Kastraki – Glyfada (22,2 km)
