Agia Irini beach
Agia Irini is a wonderful beach with beautiful clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The water is always calm when the Meltemi winds are blowing, so very safe for children and non-experienced swimmers. Agia Irini actually consists of two sandy stretches of sand separated by some stone boulders. Moving from one part to another is very easy. One beach is pristine without any facilities and the other part is organized with sun beds and umbrellas. There are some tamarisk trees offering natural shade, as well as a few palm trees that make the place look more exotic. The little charming church of St. Irene, perched on a nearby hill, has given its name to this beach.
During the peak season, the beach of Agia Irini gets very busy. The best period to visit it depends on your preferences and whether you like crowds or not. If you are looking for tranquility, early June or beginning of September is the best time to visit it. However, if you decide to go during the peak season, make sure to arrive early to ensure a prime spot under the trees or find an umbrella. Behind the beach, there are a few tavernas with fresh grilled fish and authentic Greek cuisine.
Agia Irini beach is located on the west coast of Paros, about 3 km north of the port of Pounta. Travelers can easy reach it by car, moto or ATV. Situated only 7,6 km (19 mins) from Parikia and merely 6,1 km from Paros Airport, Agia Irini is perfect for those seeking a lovely beach to spend the day near the island’s main attractions. If you are planning to visit Paros Island, make sure to add this beach on your bucket list. Its pristine beauty and crystal-clear waters ensure a wonderful beach escape.
