Agios Georgios beach
Agios Georgios is a clean beach with black sand, at the end of Perivolos Beach. The coastline is washed by crystal-clear water and the sea is so inviting for swimming, but also for diving and snorkeling. The beach is partially organized with beach bars, wooden loungers and umbrellas to hire. Water sports are available for both kids and adults and there is a beach volleyball court too. Here, you can try windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving, paddleboats and banana boats or just lay down on a sunbed and enjoy the Greek sun.
Natural shade is limited, with only a few trees dotted at the rear of the beach. Along the waterfront, there is a good choice of cafes, bars and tavernas to get drinks or eat. The beach is exposed to winds, so when strong south or east winds blow, the sea gets rough. Lifeguards are available at various sections along the beach from early in the morning till late afternoon. Despite the fact that Agios Georgios Beach is the extension on Perissa and Perivolos beaches, it is less crowded and is mostly chosen by those seeking peace and some privacy.
Agios Georgios Beach is located on the south-east coast of the island and is easy to reach it by car or bus. It is just over 11km from the islands capital Fira and that would take around 20 minutes in the car. If you are arriving at the beach by car, there are a few parking areas along the rear of the beach so finding a space would not be a pain.
