Katsouni beach
Katsouni Beach is a hidden gem situated near Kleisidi Beach, just east of the port of Agios Nikolaos on Anafi Island. For many visitors, it stands out as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, and it’s easy to see why. This small, tranquil beach is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and fine golden sand, making it an idyllic spot for relaxing, sunbathing, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere.
At both ends of the beach, you’ll find picturesque rocky formations that are favored by nudists seeking a bit of privacy. The seabed is mostly sandy, with a few rocky outcrops adding character to the shoreline. For those looking for natural shade, the tamarisk trees along the coast offer a welcome respite from the sun — an ideal retreat for free campers.
Like most beaches on Anafi, Katsouni Beach is unorganized, so it’s essential to come prepared. Bring along water, snacks, and a beach umbrella to stay comfortable under the hot Greek sun.
How to Get to Katsouni Beach
Reaching Katsouni Beach is part of the adventure. Access is via a scenic footpath that starts from Kleisidi Beach. The path is easy to navigate, with a low difficulty level, and the walk takes approximately 10-15 minutes.
You can get to the starting point of the path (located near a tavern) either by car or by bus. During the summer months, a bus runs 3-4 times daily between Chora and Monastiri, stopping at Kleisidi Beach.
For an alternative route, take the path from the Mikros Roukounas bus stop, which leads to the beaches of Flamourou and Katsouni. Once you reach Katsouni Beach, consider taking a refreshing swim over to the adjacent Flamourou Beach, located just to the left.
Whether you’re seeking a serene escape, natural beauty, or a touch of adventure, Katsouni Beach is a destination worth exploring on your visit to Anafi Island.
