Agios Georgios beach

Agios Georgios beach

Agios Georgios is the second largest beach of Sikinos and one of the island's finest beaches. Ideal for those who enjoy peace and quiet, it is still far away from mass tourism. Located in a cove, on the eastern coast of the island, 7 km from Chora, overlooks the rocky islet of Avolada. The beach is covered with pebbles mixed with sand and has crystal-clear, blue waters. At both ends has rocks and a beautiful seabed, making it ideal for snorkeling.

Some tamarisk trees and the few umbrellas that the municipal authority has placed along the beach provide enough shadow for everyone. It owes its name to the homonymous quaint chapel of Agios Georgios (St. George) which stands on a small hill, on the left side. There aren't any tourist facilities, however you can find a nice tavern, that is open during mid and high season. It is accessible through the island's road network. Local buses run throughout the day but the beach can also be reached by caiques, leaving from Alopronia, the main port of the island.
