Kamares beach

Kamares Beach s a beautiful, big sandy and organized beach with crystal clear water which is shallow for some way out with reedbeds and sand dunes. The beach is super clean and has been awarded the EU blue flag several times. Views are very unique because the beach is partially surrounded by mountains and also can watch the ferries and boats come and go. Kamares beach is organized with umbrellas and beds to rent, but there is still some place in the middle for those who prefer a towel under a tree. The middle section of the beach has a number of trees which provide natural shade. This is a good beach to visit when the meltemi (strong, dry north winds of the Aegean Sea, which blow from about mid-May to mid-September) blows as it is relatively sheltered. Super lovely on a calm day, but when it is windy being sand blasted may be rather annoying. Sparkling sandy seabed and warm shallow waters make it perfect for families with young children. The young ones also enjoy it when the ferries come to port as it creates some wave action for them to play in. The beach is big enough to accommodate sun seekers and you will not feel overcrowded even in mid-July or August. Nearby you will find pottery workshops, car rentals, bakeries, groceries and numerous of cafes, bars, restaurants and taverns to eat and drink. There are also many accommodation options of all types and budgets. The beach is right at Sifnos port and reaching it is very easy. Kamares beach is probably one of the best beaches on Sifnos and definitely a great place to swim on the island. Perfect for sunsets too.
