Kipos beach
If you want to see what is like the end of the world, this is the place, not in an apocalyptic way, exactly the opposite! It is an extremely peaceful place, miles from civilization with nature untouched by humans and unspoilt by any form of commercialism. You will most likely see more goats than people on the way to the beach, as well as at the beach. This is indeed one of the most beautiful accessible beaches on Samothraki, which is found by following the coast road clockwise round the island to its conclusion. During the summer months, there is a canteen and a strip of shaded sunbeds for rent. However, this detracts from the beach's rugged wildness.
The beach itself is pebble, not sand, which is not for all. The water is beautiful, clear and welcoming. To the north and west mountains rise up, while the beach is open to the Aegean on the east and south, with Imbros Island and Turkey visible on clear days. Make sure you carry water and food, if you are staying there long. Definitely worth the drive to enjoy the peace.
Tips: Do not park under trees as goats may climb onto your vehicle. Also visit the beach in the late afternoon to enjoy the best sunset on the island. If you're lucky, you might even see dolphins playing in the deep blue waters.
