Agali beach
Agali is a small but very friendly beach with clear blue water, very pleasant to swim in. This beautiful partly sandy beach is situated on the south side of Folegandros which is protected from the northern winds, thus making it ideal for swimming in calm waters and very safe for families with children. Unfortunately, there is no shade whatsoever on the beach unless you bring your own umbrella or canopy. Getting into the water is not particularly difficult as there are smooth rocks at the entrance to the beach and once you get past those it’s good swimming. Agali beach offers peace and tranquility but can get crowded so try to get there early. If you are willing to walk in water to waist height, there is a small secluded beach off to the left side that you have to wade around the rocks to reach that gives you some extra sun protection and also has a nice group of rocks for jumping. There are a few food options on the hillsides surrounding the beach if you get thirsty or hungry in good prices.
Small boats leave from Agali to the nearby postcard quality beaches and walking tracks to these also depart from here. From the beach you can take a rocky path to Galifos beach in 10 minutes (small and good for naturists) or walk on another 10 minutes to Agios Nikolaos which is a lovely beach with a taverna. The path is quite steep and rocky and in places the path is very close to the edge but it’s manageable. The beach is easily reached from Chora by car or local bus, but you can walk too, yet if it is a hot day, do not dare. There is a parking lot, though you might have to be a bit patient to find free space around lunch time/midday. Agali beach is one of the most popular beaches in Floegandros and with good reason – it is easy to get to, its sandy and it has got all the amenities nearby allowing you to spend an entire day here.
