Agios Georgios beach
This quiet beach at the far end of the island has welcome shade trees and some sand to sit on. Behind the beach is a small whitewashed church dedicated to Agios Georgios (St. George) and some old stone buildings, perhaps dating from days when this was an active small port. The swimming in the small bay is wonderful. The water is crystal-clear but the sea is usually rough because of the north winds. There are no facilities but that makes it more quiet. So, if you get here you have to bring some food and water. Also, bring water shoes, they will facilitate entering the water across the stones. This beach is very difficult to get to. It is accessible via a long, steep, irregular dirt road which won't suit everyone, but is fine with 4x4 or an ATV. You can also access it by boat or on foot through a path from Ano Meria (45' - 1 hour).
