Kaminakia beach
Kaminakia is one of the most famous and beautiful beaches of Astypalaia. It is located on the southwest side of the island in a small bay, about 9 kilometers south of Chora. An idyllic beach, relatively large, combining sand and pebbles with crystal-clear blue waters. If you are fan of snorkeling, make sure you have your swimming mask with you as there are rocks and caves at the edge of the beach that you can explore.
On the beach there are some sunbeds and umbrellas. For those who prefer natural shade there are some tamarisk trees at the right end of the beach. In short distance there are a couple of taverns that also serve coffee. To reach the beach is quite difficult because the dirt road that leads to it, in some parts is in bad condition. It is a 30-minute drive from Chora. Alternatively, there are boats from Pera Gialos that run daily to the beaches of Vatses, Kaminakia and Agios Ioannis, as long as the weather allows it.
