Apothikes beach
Apothikes is a really beautiful isolated beach on the west coast of Andros. The beach is well organized with sun beds and a large bar which takes up two thirds of the beach. The beach and the natural setting are breathtaking but the place gets very busy in peak season, so for those looking for peace this might not be the right place to spend the day. The beach with the golden sand is nestled in a small bay with emerald water that deepens relatively fast. Surrounded by some rocks and barren landscapes, Apothikes beach is perfect for fishing, diving and snorkeling. The seabed is fantastic and rich in fish.
The road to Apothikes beach is rough in places, but preserved. To get there you have to head towards Stavropeda first. After reaching Stavropeda, there is a downhill road leading to Chalkolimnionas beach. Half a kilometer before the road ends, there is a crossroad. Turn left and go all the way down to Apothikes beach. A large parking space is available at the end of the road. Apothikes beach is one of the best beaches on Andros and definitely one of those beaches you should add on your bucket list if you are planning to visit the island. Note, that though the beach is nestled in a small cove, it is affected by the summer winds (meltemia).
