A Gorgeous Hidden Cove in the Dodecanese With Wild Beauty
Agios Georgios Dysalona is one of the most impressive beaches on Symi, lying in a secluded cove on the east side of the island, between Pedi and Marathounta. The beach is backed by a towering 300-metre-high cliff, creating a dramatic landscape and providing natural shade during the afternoon. Together with the clear, deep-blue waters, the setting has a distinctly wild and natural character.
The beach takes its name from the small chapel of Agios Georgios, built on the edge of the cliff above the beach. The name “Dysalona” refers to its difficult access, and the beach cannot be reached by land. The only way to get there is by boat, either on your own or with one of the taxi boats and excursion boats that operate from Symi harbour and visit the island's beaches.
Agios Georgios Dysalona is not organised and has no facilities, so you should bring everything you need for your visit, including plenty of water, food and sun cream. Its secluded location and dramatic surroundings make it a good choice for visitors looking for a quieter beach away from the more accessible parts of Symi.
