Metalia beach

Metalia beach

The sandy beach of Metalia is located next to Limenaria, beside Palataki. The beach owes its name to the old mining factory of iron, the ruins of which are still visible on the beach. The old buildings in combination with the dense vegetation and the turquoise waters compose a lovely setting. On the beach, in addition to the old buildings and the old kilns, there is an open-air exhibition of works of art and the chapel of Agios Nikolaos (St. Nicholas). The shoreline is lined with green sea plant covered bolder which have been smoothed over by the waves and they are very slippery. Thus, lines of single sand bags have been placed to make a very slimline walkway. The seabed is very beautiful, ideal for snorkeling.

The beach is fully organized with a beach bar, sea beds, parasols showers and WC and it is easily accessible by road or via a path from Palataki. If you choose to walk, you will be rewarded by the amazing view of the beach from above. It's not the best beach on the island but it is a beach worth visiting at least once.
