Arsanas beach
Arsanas is a small beach in the south coast of Thassos. The beach is mainly sand with some stones and pebbles around the edges, so be sure to bring the right footwear. Getting there is not easy, as the road is rough and it does not lead all the way down to the beach. You need to park at the roadside and walk the last 100 meters down a path to the beach itself. The steep path may be difficult to access if you have mobility issues. Another option to get there is to take a boat directly to the beach. Thera are daily cruises or you can rent private boats for the day. Although getting there is not easy, the beach gets pretty crowded so if true seclusion is what you want, this is not a good beach. But even during the busy times, it is a tranquil spot to relax and a great place to swim and snorkel.
The beach itself is 60 meters long and 25 meters deep with aqua marine waters which is cold due to two water springs gushing in the area. This small beach in the past served as a boatyard for the Monastery of Archangel Michael which stands above. Now, there is a taverna on the beach that serves food and drinks throughout the day, and offers sun loungers to rent. Arsanas beach is located near the Monastery of Archangel Michael, 4 kilometers from Astrida and 39 kilometers from Limenas. Very close is Livadi beach, so you can combine both in one day.
