Xanemos beach
Xanemos Beach is located on the northeastern coast of Skiathos, next to Skiathos Airport “Alexandros Papadiamantis” and about 2.5 km from Skiathos Town. Its location at the end of the airport runway is the beach's most distinctive feature, as aircraft taking off and landing pass very close overhead. The noise may be distracting for some visitors, but the low-flying planes also make Xanemos an unusual place for watching aircraft and taking photographs.
Xanemos is a relatively quiet beach with sand and coarse pebbles. The water is clear, although the beach's eastern orientation means that waves are often present. It offers panoramic views towards Skopelos and is partly organised with sun loungers and umbrellas. A beach canteen is also available. The beach is easily accessible by road, with parking nearby.
The area also has archaeological interest. Remains of a prehistoric settlement have been discovered at Kefala, near Xanemos, providing an additional reason to explore the surrounding area.
Xanemos is served by local buses, while the nearby beaches of Bougazanos and Styhero provide further options for swimming and relaxing along the northeastern coast of Skiathos.
