Megalos Aselinos beach
Megalos Aselinos beach is pretty remote, across to the north side of Skiathos. A very peaceful and photogenic beach, not over commercialised like so many of the more popular beaches of Skiathos. It is a mixture of clean sand and pebbles and a little dried seaweed in places. The beach itself is both wide and deep, surrounded by stunning forests that glow bright green in the late evening sun. As it is on the north of the island if it is windy, it can have some big waves, so may not be the best for small children. You would better have a look at the wind before getting there. If it is too windy, head for the south side of Skiathos.
There is a taverna with a few loungers, but otherwise the beach offers few facilities. Most of it is empty if you want to do your own thing and what is most important, even in high season is not crowdy at all. The beach is at the end of a reasonable road from Troulos. The road is nearly all tarmac; winding, narrow and occasionally potholed. The last part is smooth dirt and arrives at a parking area behind the beach. Boat trips also stop here when travelling round the island.
