Kechria beach
This is undoubtedly one of the best places in Skiathos. A beautiful location with sunbeds placed on the grass and parasols to shade you from the sun. There is also a beautiful taverna with a delicious range of dishes. The beach itself is gravel and sand with nice clear water. It is a bit difficult to get in and out of the sea due to the large number of rocks and large stones, so bring swimming shoes. There is a spring high above the beach, so there is permanently running fresh water for showering on the beach. Kechria is a lovely looking beach, quiet and out of the way with amazing views of the bay and out to sea. Α beautiful place for a relaxing swim and soaking up the sun and scenery.
Note that on this side of the island, the sea can get quite choppy when north winds blow, so avoid visiting this beach when there are northerly winds. Although, the beach does not get very crowded probably due to the difficult access, try to arrive early during peak season, or there will be no parasols left for rent. However, there is a large awning stretched over some trees, so if you cannot get a parasol, you will have some shade. This beach is highly recommended even though it takes an eternity to reach it via the old dumpy road. You would better park at the top due to the steep hill and then walk down. Overall, it is nice place to visit and spend the day.
Note: The whole grassed area is part of the taverna which is private property. Be aware that once the sun goes down, it gets dark quickly and you may have a trickier drive back home. To get to Kechria beach a 4x4 vehicle or a quad bike is highly recommended instead of a conventional vehicle. Beware not to damage the tires and the underside of the car.
