Pefkos beach
Pefkos Beach is a quiet scenic beach in the west of Skyros. It lies in a beautiful bay surrounded by pine trees that reach all the way to the water. The bay is protected from winds and the sea is usually calm. The beach is rather isolated with no many facilities but there is a canteen for the basics and a restaurant at road’s end. There are a few umbrellas for rent and lots of free space if you have your own equipment or want your privacy. Pefkos beach is long and consists mainly of coarse sand and pebbles. The turquoise water is clean and clear and the sea bottom is quite interesting, boasting some rocks of various shapes and, thus, ideal for snorkeling. The beach is located 11km west of Skyros Town and is easily accessible by road. On the hill above the beach stands the church of Agios Panteleimon. It is more than worthwhile visiting the site because the view from there is stunning. All in all, Pefkos beach is suitable for kids and a nice place to spend the day and relax.
