Kaminia beach
Located in the southeastern part of Ithaca, Kaminia is one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. It is nestled in a beautiful little bay with rolling hills on either sides, and offers a wonderful view of the islet of Nisopoulo. The turquoise waters are great for swimming and snorkeling, and the beach itself is a perfect place to relax under the Greek sun and enjoy the clean sea. Kaminia is an organized white pebbled beach with a wooden canteen where you can buy all the basics. There are sun beds and umbrellas available, but also some free space if you want to save money.
In order to reach this beach, you have to drive on a dirt road. It can be done with a conventional car but you have to be careful. Although it is a bit difficult to reach it, it is more than worth the effort. To get there, you have to drive approximately 4,5 km from Vathy towards Marathia and find the exit (there is a sign) towards Kaminia. From that point it will take about 10 minutes to drive down to the beach. Kaminia beach is 4,8 km (11 mins) from Vathy and 11,4 km from the coastal village of Aetos. While in Ithaca, do not miss to visit this wonderful beach. Put it on your bucket list now and enjoy a day in heaven.
